Maple Young is a woodworker and fibers artist from Smithfield, Rhode Island, who has completed her Crafts and Materials Studies BFA at the University of the Arts. She is interested in constructing furniture and free motion embroidery. She is influenced by her experiences of nostalgia as well as the archiving of historical craft practices. Young is a Windgate-Lamar Fellowship Grant nominee and has received the University of The Arts Trustees award for Excellence in the Arts. She has exhibited in "Sizzle: School of Art Thesis Exhibition" at the Icebox Project Space, Philadelphia, PA in 2023, "Art Unleashed" at the Philadelphia Art Alliance in 2023 and “Metamorph” at The University of the Arts in 2023. She plans to continue creating a body of work fusing woodworking and embroidery together.
